Your Fall 2026 Reading List Just Got Fuller

Back in August we handed you a Fall 2026 reading list and called it "extremely full." That was, in hindsight, wildly optimistic of us — because here we are, deeper into the season, and the new-release shelf has not slowed down even a little. So: round two. Eight more real books hitting shelves this October and November, because apparently your TBR pile answers to no one, least of all us.

The List

1. A Court of Splintered Harmony by Sarah J. Maas — Fantasy / Romantasy — on shelves October 27th.

The one you've been waiting for. Book six of the ACOTAR series returns to Prythian, and Maas confirmed the release herself — so yes, this is real, and yes, we already know where we're putting the display table.

2. This Shattered Tempest by Thea Guanzon — Fantasy / Romantasy — on shelves October 8th.

The bestselling Hurricane Wars trilogy comes to a close. If you burned through the first two books, you already know this one's going straight to the top of the pile — no notes.

3. With Hearts of Flame by Briar Boleyn — Dark Academia Romantasy — on shelves October 20th.

Book four in Boleyn's Bloodwing/Bonewood series, and the tensions (romantic and otherwise) are reportedly at an all-time high. Dark academia fans, this is your sign.

4. Defy the Dusk by Danielle L. Jensen — Fantasy Romance — on shelves November 3rd.

A new duet from the author of the Bride of the Shadow King series — a sweeping epic set in a world overrun by nocturnal creatures. New series, same reliably excellent Jensen world-building.

5. Other Worlds Than These (The Talisman #3) by Stephen King & Peter Straub — Horror / Fantasy — on shelves October 6th.

Jack Sawyer is back, and the worlds of The Talisman collide with King's Dark Tower series. Two horror legends, one very unhinged multiverse — we regret nothing about how excited we are for this one.

6. Off the Reservation by Stephen Graham Jones — Horror — on shelves October 13th.

From the author of The Only Good Indians and The Buffalo Hunter Hunter: a bloody revenge tale as Nate Yellow Tail hunts down the lost bones of a young boy. Not a gentle read. Extremely a good one.

7. Peck & Peck by Bonnie Garmus — Literary Fiction — on shelves October 13th.

From the author of the juggernaut Lessons in Chemistry: a young man lands a job at an unconventional 1980s poetry journal and finds out what language and community can actually do for a person. If Garmus wrote it, we're stocking it — simple as that.

8. Look What the Cat Dragged In by Jason Rekulak — Horror / Mystery — on shelves October 13th.

From the author of Hidden Pictures: a pet-sitter starts to suspect something deeply evil is working through a client's cat. Read it in daylight. We're serious. Read it in daylight.

Fall Reading, Perfectly Paired

Eight new books means eight excuses to curl up in your corner of the shop with something warm in hand. Our pick for the season: the Cinder Valentina — soft, dark-fruited, built for a night when the plan is a blanket and a chapter (or twelve). Not drinking? Our seasonal Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea is the fall-flavored non-alcoholic answer to the same question.

Come Read With Us

All eight of these are pre-orderable at the counter now, and we'll have them on the New Releases shelf the second they land — so you don't have to keep track of eight separate on-sale dates, we'll do that part. If you'd rather talk about books out loud instead of just stacking them at home, TBL Book Club meets regularly right here in Meridian, Idaho — check our events page for the next pick.

Tag us @thebookloungeid with whatever you end up starting first. We won't judge if it's not the one we'd have picked — probably.
