TBL Book Club Nov-Dec Book Club Lineup
Pumpkins are out, cardigans are on, and depending on the night, you might walk into The Book Lounge here in Meridian, Idaho and find a whole room of us mid-argument about an ending (keep it down, we're reading over here 👀). Here's what's on the docket for both of our book clubs through the end of the year — mark your calendars, grab your seat, and let's talk books.
Book Club Is My Alibi
This one's exactly what it sounds like — the excuse you needed to leave the house, phone off, drink in hand, with nothing to confess except your opinions on the ending.
Thursday, November 12 · 6–8 PM · $5 minimum — The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix
Six women survived the kind of massacre that usually only happens in slasher movies — and for over a decade, they've met in a support group together, trying to build something like a normal life. When one of them misses a meeting, the rest realize somebody out there knows exactly who they are, and isn't finished with them yet. Darkly funny, genuinely tense, and a total love letter to the genre — perfect for anyone who's ever yelled "don't go in there!" at a screen.
Thursday, December 10 · pick TBD
We haven't landed on our December pick yet — keep an eye on our social media and newsletter, or just ask us next time you're in. We'll have it locked in soon.
Lit Happens
Yes, the name's a pun. No, we don't regret it. Lit Happens leans a little more literary, a little more book-club-classic — the kind of picks that are built for a slow sip and a long conversation.
Thursday, November 19 · 6–8 PM · $5 minimum — Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Pachinko follows four generations of one Korean family, beginning with Sunja, a devoted daughter in early-1900s Korea whose life changes when a young minister offers her a way out — a new start in Japan. What follows is a sweeping, intimate saga about home, belonging, and what it costs to build a life somewhere you're not fully wanted. Bring tissues. Bring questions. Bring your full self to this one.
Thursday, December 17 · pick TBD
December's Lit Happens pick is also still TBD — we'll announce both December picks together once they're locked in, so you've got plenty of time to get your copy before the meeting.
Grab a Seat (and Something to Sip)
Both clubs meet right here in our dedicated book club nook, and yes, you can reserve the space ahead of time. If you want our two cents on what to sip while you read: something moody and a little dangerous ahead of Alibi — we're looking at you, Veer Mataro, aptly nicknamed the "Killer Wine" — and something warm and cozy for Lit Happens, like our seasonal Apple Cider. Either way, the $5 minimum gets you in the door and keeps the lights on for the next chapter.
New to Book Club? Come Anyway.
Both groups welcome new faces every month — no homework required if you just want to sit in on your first visit. RSVP for either meeting on our website events page, and tag us @thebookloungeid when you post your TBR pile. We want to see it.
Happy Reading (and Sipping!),
