About the Book
Trauma nurse Harlow Frye has built a quiet life in the small backcountry town of Knightly, surrounded by five trusted friends — the kind of found family we're always a little jealous of. Feehan sets the whole thing against a beautiful, harrowing Sierra backdrop and layers in exactly the kind of infuriating, magnetic romantic tension her readers show up for. We stayed up later than we meant to with this one.

Some pairings take research. This one took none: we're pouring the Veer Mataro “Killer Wine” ($12/glass) — yes, that's really its name, no we did not make it up, and yes we felt very smug when we remembered we had it. A book built around a mystery toxin deserves a glass with a little danger baked right into the label.
Keeping it alcohol-free? Order Between the Pages ($7) — cool, herbal, and just unsettling enough for a story where the prettiest mountain town in the Sierras is apparently also the deadliest.
Either way: lock the door, pour your glass, and don't trust anyone until chapter three. We mean it. Not even the nice ones.
