The Book Lounge isn’t your typical bookstore. We’re a licensed lounge and curated fiction destination designed for adults who crave a living-room-away-from-home. A haven where community grows naturally, conversations spark over great reads, and every visit feels like an escape from the ordinary.
We’re looking for a Lounge Lead & Bookseller — a part-time role at $15/hr plus tips — for someone who can do something rare: make a perfect drink and hand-sell the perfect book in the same breath.

What You’ll Actually Do
From behind the bar, you’ll be the steady anchor of the lounge — preparing and serving our curated menu of locally sourced craft beers, wines, mocktails, and premium coffee and tea. But your role stretches well beyond the bar top.
You’re also our resident literary expert. Whether a guest is hunting for the latest BookTok sensation, a debut Idaho author, or simply the most beautifully written novel published in the last decade, you’ll know what to put in their hands.
Day to day, you’ll:
Provide high-touch bar service and anchor the lounge atmosphere
Offer personalized book recommendations across fiction, BookTok titles, and local authors
Grow our loyalty program by enrolling members and processing special orders
Keep the space social-media-ready — books, merch, and snacks perfectly merchandised
Help set up and run book clubs, author readings, and themed literary nights
Founding Team Opportunity. You’ll work alongside the owners as we grow something genuinely new in the Treasure Valley — a data-driven, community-first experiential retail concept that treats books and beverages as equally worthy of craft and care.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re a voracious reader. Not just “I enjoy books” — but the kind of person who has opinions about the best first lines ever written and can talk a stranger into trying a genre they’ve never touched.
Required
21+ (required for alcohol service — we cover your Idaho Alcohol Server Certification)
Genuine passion for fiction and the ability to discuss books with infectious enthusiasm
Comfortable maintaining the lounge atmosphere and making operational decisions
Available for weekday daytime shifts and weekend coverage
Preferred
1+ years in retail or hospitality
Previous experience in a bookstore or wine bar
Leadership presence — calm, decisive, and warm
